Cobot Casepacker/Palletizer
For a number of years we have been intrigued by the
possibility of using collaborative robots but each time the usual
counterarguments came back such as lack of performance and the relative
high cost/savings ratio. This was all understandable really.
But in the last year we have been developing a much improved cobot packaging solution by making it more compact, lighter, more powerful (in terms of lift) and foremost cheaper (by standardizing). Personally, I believe the mistake the industry made in promoting the cobot was to view it as a robotic co-worker, thereby justifying a high price. We think it has to be viewed as a mini-industrial robot which is safer and cheaper, aimed at handling standard non-complicated tasks.
